Wellness in Focus: A Q&A with TeAnna

What inspired you to become a massage therapist?

  • I was inspired to become a massage therapist after I first hand experienced the benefits of massage therapy. I lived with chronic pain from working a very physically demanding job and had never had a massage before. After my first massage I felt so much relief from pain in my own body, and felt truly inspired to become a massage therapist and help others.

What do you love most about your job?

  • I love helping people feel their best in mind, body, and spirit. We live in such a fast paced world and helping others take the time to slow down and take care of themselves I find very rewarding.

How do you tailor each session to individual clients?

  • I tailor each session to individual clients by actively listening to where they are having discomfort. I have a strength in being able to palpate where muscles are tight and need to be released. I think deeply about how the body and muscles work together so that I can better address each individual's needs and follow compensation patterns.

What’s one piece of advice you give most often to clients?

  • Stretch, drink lots of water, and watch those body mechanics and posture.

How do you help nervous or first-time clients feel comfortable?

  • I explain that you can get undressed to their comfort level. Anywhere you wear clothing I consider my boundary. I will use my draping skills to keep you comfortable at all times. If you are ever feeling uneasy during your session we can make changes to make you feel more comfortable.

What do you recommend clients do after a massage to enhance the results?

  • Stretching, drinking water, getting massages more frequently rather than waiting until you desperately need one.
